Stamford Landing
Directly off the foyer is a gourmet kitchen with cherry cabinets custom-built to the 9 foot ceilings to maximize storage space. Cream Corian counters along the wall complement the custom Talavera tile. The center island with cherry pilasters and Persian granite has a curve-out for barstools, a bookcase and Thermador gas cook top with retractable vent. Hanging pewter lamps can be dimmed for mood lighting, the under-cabinet halogen lighting and all recessed lighting are strategically located to give the cook perfect lighting. The upgrade to gas was installed to enhance the cooking experience. The walll of cabinets includes all wood-paneled, integrated appliances with a Sub-Zero refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher with hidden controls. Colors and painting treatments are decorator designed throughout. The powder room off the foyer compliments the kitchen island and the kitchen cabinets with its cherry vanity and pewter hardware. The countertop and flooring are marble. The faux finish walls have been glazed to give depth and warmth to the first floor. To the left of the foyer is a large custom built landing.
Oak hardwood floors and crown moldings were installed on the entire first floor. The hardware on all the doors was upgraded to Baldwin. An entertainment center was built by a master cabinetmaker to encompass an entire wall for a large, flat screen TV and home theatre with infrared electronic control system. The moveable shelves are illuminated by xenon lighting. The woodwork continues the trim colors of the house and the top echoes the cherry from the kitchen cabinets along with their pewter hardware. A custom fireplace mantel surrounds the gas fireplace. The first floor California closet stores both coats and functions as a pantry.
